Class Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to all cookery classes booked with The Underground Cookery School. By booking a class you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to the following.

Booking & payment

  • All class bookings are made and paid for in advance through our website. Your place is confirmed once payment has been received.
  • Each class has a limited number of spaces. Booking guarantees your place on the date you select, subject to availability.
  • On our Parent & Child classes the price covers one adult and one child cooking together. On our “kids cook, you work” classes the price is per child.

Arrival & punctuality

  • Classes start promptly at the advertised time. Please arrive in good time.
  • We are unable to wait for latecomers, and any time missed cannot be made up or refunded.

Dietary requirements & allergens

  • All dietary requirements and allergens must be told to us by email at least 72 hours before your class. We will accommodate where possible.
  • If we are not told at least 72 hours in advance, we will not be able to accommodate dietary requirements or allergens.
  • Gluten-free pasta is not made during our pasta classes. Guests following a gluten-free diet will take part fully using the standard recipe and normal flour, and will then be served a gluten-free dish we have prepared in advance.
  • We are unable to accept coeliac guests on any pasta class.
  • Our 1 adult + 1 child baking classes are unable to accommodate any dietary requirements.

Children & suitability

  • Our Parent & Child and Kids classes are designed for children aged 8 and over.
  • For safety reasons, children must be tall enough to work comfortably at a standard kitchen worktop (approximately 90cm) without the use of stools, platforms or other height aids.
  • Only one child per adult, no exceptions under any circumstances.
  • On “kids cook, you work” classes, children are dropped off and work in pairs with our chefs. On the Kids’ Baking morning, one parent or guardian remains on site in our hot-desk area.

What to expect in class

  • In our Cook, Dine & Wine classes you prepare your dishes from scratch, which our chefs then cook off. Certain sauces and components are prepared in advance.
  • Fish & Poultry: guests work in pairs for parts of the class, including filleting a fish and boning a chicken between two. Garnishes are seasonal and may vary.
  • Wellington: guests assemble and design their own Wellington from components we have prepared in advance; our chefs then cook and serve it, explaining how it is done.
  • Some classes are dine-in (you enjoy your food with us) and some are takeaway (you take your food home). This is stated on each class page.

Spectators

  • As space within the Cookery School is limited, attendance is restricted to those participating in the class. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate spectators or provide a waiting area for non-participating guests.

Cancellations & rescheduling

  • We require at least 7 days’ notice to provide a full refund or to reschedule your class at no extra cost.
  • If something unforeseen comes up, or you are unwell, and you are unable to give 7 days’ notice or more, we reserve the right to charge a 50% rescheduling fee.
  • We are not able to reschedule or cancel a class within 48 hours of the class start time.
  • Classes still go ahead during tube strikes and other travel disruption — they will not be cancelled. Please plan your journey and make yourself available; the notice periods above apply as normal.

By completing your booking you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Class Terms & Conditions.
